KMart is a subsidiary of the publicly traded Sears Holding Corporation. Founded in 1899 as the SS Kresge Corporation, KMart has operated under their current name since 1962. Headquartered in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, the company has more than 1,200 stores located in the U.S. and its territories. Considered a discount big box store, KMart sells apparel for adults and kids, electronics, beauty and personal care products, groceries and pet supplies and other household items. In addition, the stores are known for their lawn and garden and outdoor living and patio products as well as their automotive parts and seasonal merchandise.
